Dr. C. Burcin Taner is Chair of the Department of Transplant at Mayo Clinic Florida. In his current role, he oversees all clinical operations in liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplants as well as supervises research and educational activities in Department of Transplant. Dr. Taner graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School (Ankara, Turkey) in 1995. He worked as a research fellow in cardiothoracic transplant laboratory at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota between 1997-1999. He then trained in General Surgery between 1999-2004 and completed Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship training at the same institution between 2004-2006. Since 2007, he has been working as Abdominal Transplant Surgeon at Mayo Clinic Florida. In 2013, he was appointed as Transplant Surgery Division chair; in 2016 he was appointed as Chair of Department of Transplant at Mayo Clinic Florida. He holds academic rank of Professor of Surgery at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. His academic interests include transplant outcomes, utilization of liver grafts from donation after cardiac death donors, process improvement, and resource utilization in transplantation.
